This beautiful website design was a step away from the norm for me. Most websites which I design for local businesses are for trades people – functioning, handsome websites. This one was different.
Website Designed for a Proofreader
Claire is qualified as a proofreader and has a background as both a writer and as an artist. She had already chosen her colour scheme and wanted an affordable simple website to provide a professional online presence for her proofreading business.
Getting to Know Claire Better
We were able to sit and have a coffee together so that Claire gave me her colour scheme, and a couple of pages she had written about herself, her background and her aspirations. A few more pictures and we were good to go.
Logo Design
Claire did not have a logo so the first thing we did was work together to create something special.
How To Get More Work
We discussed that not many people search for proofreaders online. Therefore Claire would have to work on social media and by messaging other businesses to obtain work. Nevertheless, I optimised the website for SEO. As I writer, I advised Claire that a regular blog post, then shared to social media, would, over time, increase the ranking of her website.
My Favourite Part of this BeautifulWebsite Design
My favourite thing about this website design is that I was able to add a bit of sparkle as you can see. The colours were something completely different for me too, because I often work with blues and black.
Ongoing Website Maintenance
I continue to host and maintain claireshaw.uk for Claire. Regular updates are necessary because they help protect the website from online attacks. Monthly backups ensure continuation if the worst should happen.
